A guided group Experience (up to 10) a tour through the history and culture of Highland Cattle and introductions to different Hairy groups from smallest to larges
An informal responsive experience organised at short notice for visitors to the Highlands. The group drives to the closest animals to be introduced to the Hairy individuals, their behaviour and care.
The River Spey is just a few metres away from the farm boundary. Its water is coloured deep brown from the peaty burns feeding it but the bottom is composed of gentle glacial sand with little weed. At this point the river meanders along the floor of the strath so there is no difficulty with depth or current. A swim upriver or a paddle downwards provides a water-level spectacle of the riverbanks and surrounding hills that is sublimely invigorating and calming at the same time.
Wild Walking
Step out from the farm and you will find yourself in wilderness. There are trails: the East Highland Way just over the hill, the mountain road leading up to the plateau from Carnegie’s Bothy, but the real delight is setting one foot in front of another and just walking for however long and far the mood takes you. If you are dauntless enough you can access the western edge of the Monadhliath range whence you will look across peak after peak all the way to the west coast.
