Roy Abel grew up on a small beef breeding farm and carved out his own from his grandfather’s land.

The new farmhouse and guesthouse have been built on rocks at the highest point as a kind of beacon of hospitality. He now welcomes guests and volunteers from all over the world as companions on a variety of seasonal projects including English learning

Volunteers are an integral part of Uvie Farm helping with all activities.

They form a constantly moving community where everyone gets a chance to find a place and purpose. Each has the opportunity to learn while helping, contributing their own nature and skills. As a guest you might well be assisted by or just bump into one of them and get to know their culture and background.
